How to share a direct purchase link
How to share a direct purchase link
The Copy "Buy button" action generates a direct link to checkout for a specific product or plan. With a single click, the visitor will go straight to complete the purchase — without going through the product page or having to add the item to the cart.

- When to use it
- How to copy and share the link
- Link format
- When the option appears
- Frequently asked questions
1. When to use it
This tool is ideal for campaigns where you want the purchase to happen in one step, not several. The usual flow has a friction point: the visitor clicks a normal link, lands on the product page, and still has to add the item and open the cart.
The direct purchase link removes those steps. Paste it into a newsletter, a social media post, a paid ad, or a landing page, and the visitor will go straight to checkout for that item.
2. How to copy and share the link
1. Go to Control Panel > Content or Control Panel > Plans.
2. Locate the publication or subscription plan in its list.
3. Click the arrow on the options menu to the right of the Edit button.
4. Click Copy "Buy button". The direct link will be copied to your clipboard.

5. Paste it wherever you want to share it. When a visitor opens the link, the system will automatically open checkout for that item.
3. Link format
Depending on the item, the link will have one of these two formats:
- Product:
/library/publication/{slug}?automatically_open_checkout=1 - Plan:
/subscribe/{plan}?automatically_open_checkout=1
automatically_open_checkout=1 parameter is equivalent to automatically_open_checkout=True. Both work the same way; the button generates =1 by default.4. When the option appears
The Copy "Buy button" option will only appear when a direct purchase makes sense for that item.
It will not appear if:
Content (ebooks, audiobooks, print books)
- The product is free
- It has no price or the price is 0
- It has been withdrawn from sale
Plans (subscriptions)
- It is an external plan type (managed outside the platform)
- The plan is disabled
5. Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see the option on a free product?
The option will only appear for content on sale with a price greater than zero. Free products, products with no price or a price of 0, and products withdrawn from sale will not show it — there is nothing to purchase, so a direct purchase link does not apply.
Why does my "subscriber-only" content link send the visitor to the product page instead of checkout?
That link will open checkout only for existing subscribers. For any other visitor, the system will redirect to the product page. This is the expected behavior for subscriber-only content — target the link at your subscriber base.
Can I add a coupon or currency to the link?
Yes. The button generates the base direct purchase link, but the underlying mechanism accepts optional parameters such as currency, coupon, and interval. You can add them manually to the copied link. See the Automatic Checkout article for the full parameter reference.
Why doesn't the option appear on one of my Stripe plans?
The option will only appear for plans that a visitor can subscribe to through your store checkout. External plans (managed outside the platform) and disabled plans do not qualify.
