Set Up The Shelves
Configure the Shelves
In this article we will show you how you can modify the order and the way you display your publications in the store. This tool will allow you to give more visibility to the content you want to show first and will help your users navigate and find featured publications easily.
You will be able to modify the color, the order and choose which taxonomy to display in each shelf.
We will divide this guide into two sections:
A. First, the aesthetics:
- Go to Control Panel > Settings > Storefront
There you can set:
- the visual format in which your publications' covers will be displayed. Select a template, preview and choose how you want your content to look:

- Classic: This is the default design. Your users will see the title, date and price of each publication.

- Highlighted: You can give greater visibility to the first shelf. This mode is ideal for promoting Publications.

- Books: This will allow you to display more information about each publication. Users will be able to see the author, brief description, date, and price of each title.

- And how your users will view the labels that identify the format of your content.

- You can opt for a version that indicates EPUB, Printed, a headphones icon for audiobooks, or simply no label in the case of PDFs.

- Or by filling the Show format as icon on cover checkbox, the text will be replaced by a book icon for both EPUBs and PDFs.

B. You can continue customizing your shelves in terms of their background colors, restrictions and how you will order the content within them.
- Go to Control Panel > Settings > Store > Shelves
- The first thing you can configure will be the appearance of the shelves.

- Click on the color box and a color palette will appear. You can also enter your own HTML code, for example your brand color.

- Choose the type of order

You can choose between:
- Automatic: 3 shelves will be generated (My Publications, New Releases, Genre)

- Custom: you can choose which categories to display in each one.
- Years: it will be sorted automatically with a carousel for each year, based on the publication date you configured for each publication when uploading them.
- Months: it will be sorted automatically with a carousel for each month, based on the publication date you configured for each publication when uploading them.
If you chose the Custom option, continue with the following steps:
a) Click on Add Shelf as many times as you want to add carousels.
b) Select the type of content you want to display:

- Enter a title: This will be shown to your users. For example: Classics, Education, Editorial Books, etc.
- Choose whether you want to display by filters, years, genre or file type.
- Filters: here you can select the taxonomy you want to filter your content.

You can choose from all the taxonomies you have and for which you have loaded data in your publications.
For example, select the Taxonomy Author and then the value within that category that you want to display, Abe, Kobo.
- Years: You can choose whether you want to create a carousel by publication year.

- Genre: If you added a BISAC code to your publications, you can display shelves to your users by genre.

File type: shelves will be created for each file type, for example Audiobooks or EPUBs.

Other types of classification:
- Free: adds a carousel with all publications that are free in your store.
- New Releases: adds a carousel where the latest added publications appear automatically.
- My Publications: shows each of your users the content they have purchased so far.
Once you are done, click Save and you're all set!
- If at the time of creating the shelves you did not take their order into account, you can drag them from here

and change the position in which they will be displayed. Simply press and drag while holding down.
Shelf Content Settings
At the end of this section you will find the Shelf Content Settings. If you enable this option, content with an "Adults Only" audience will be hidden from the shelves.

This will be useful if you have adult content among your publications and you do not want it to be plainly visible on the shelves.
