Share Your Highlights With Other Readers
The reader lets you share your highlights and notes from a publication with other readers through a link. Whoever receives the link can subscribe and see your annotations alongside their own, inside the same reader.

1. How to generate a share link
Each link corresponds to one annotation color on one specific publication. If you want to share more than one color or more than one publication, generate a link for each combination.
|| You can only share custom colors, not the reader's five fixed colors. If you haven't created one yet, you first need to create a custom highlighter (see → Highlights: create, edit, and customize colors).
1. Open the publication in the reader and go to the annotations Notebook, on the Highlights or Notes tab.
2. Make sure you have at least one highlight or note in the custom color you want to share.
3. Click the share icon, next to the row of colors at the top of the Notebook.
4. In the Share window, choose the custom color you want to share.
|| If you don't have a custom color with at least one annotation yet, the window will let you know and you won't be able to continue until you create one.
5. Click Copy Link and share it through whichever channel you prefer: email, chat, an education platform, etc.
|| The link doesn't expire and can't be revoked once it's generated.
2. How To Subscribe To Another Reader's Annotations
When you receive a shared link:
1. Open the link. You'll see a screen with the author's name, the shared color, and the publication's title.
2. If you're not signed in, log in to your account.
3. Click Read Now. The subscription activates automatically and the reader opens with the author's annotations already visible.
|| To see the shared annotations you need access to that publication. If you don't have access, the welcome screen will let you know.
3. What Shared Annotations Look Like
Once subscribed, when you open the publication you'll see the author's annotations alongside your own:
- Your own annotations display and can be edited normally.
- The author's annotations show a chip with their name. You can't edit or delete them, only view them.
- The Notebook shows both types of annotations with the corresponding attribution.
